Reverse osmosis (RO) membranes have been shown to significantly reduce total dissolved solids, heavy metals, organic pollutants, viruses, bacteria, and other dissolved contaminants. Especially when the water is contaminated with high content of organic pollutants, chemical oxygen, color, are difficult to remove in primary and secondary treatment. Direct discharge of this water will seriously pollute the environment. By treating the tertiary wastewater with RO reduces all the contaminants’.
When wastewater is discharged into the environment without suitable treatment this then causes water pollution. RO treated waste water can be disposed of safely or reused and recycled back into production. This is a huge benefit as it saves storage space and saves money.
RO works by removing impurities from contaminated water. It does this through the process of pressure, forcing the contaminated solution through membranes. After the water is treated it can be reused in production or can be disposed of safely. RO systems also require very little maintenance.
